Intimacy nerves

This guy’s face says it all.  I never knew a cat could have social anxiety, but this one clearly does!  This is the face I make when I’m nervous up in da club.

Just chillaxin', but still so anxious!  Look at his back foot - awkward kitty!  Unlike with humans it just makes him cuter.  Excellent double paws, bro.

This beaut lives on my street - Spencer Ave!

CAT DADDY

New dance craze, y'all!  Inspired by cats!  I don't like Chris Brown cause he whooped Rihanna and was remorseless, BUT I love his music and this dance and all the other peeps involved!

Charlie Sheen cats speak the truth

As some of you may know, my second most beloved thing after cats is when celebrities go CRAY-CRAY!  So this was already a pretty good week for both myself and Charlie Sheen.  Now that cats around the world are echoing the vitriolic sentiments he spit on The Alex Jones Show it's pretty much the best day of my life.

Well, somebody had to say it.

Oh, the ironing!

The ironing is delicious because cats ARE feminists!!!  Here's the proof.

Thanks to Alex Hall for this great picture!  I saw it in real life the day i posted it.  Right outside Good For Her on Harbord Street!

On Eyebrows.

Perhaps because I have always had fairly significant eyebrows myself, I think prominent brows are incredibly cute/interesting/distinguished!  When eyebrows and cute animals are combined, it's a serious smorgasbord of greatness.  They don't occur naturally very often, as kits and dawgs have whiskers to keep dust out their pretty little eyes, so it's just a beautiful fluke of nature if they happen to have little eyebrow-shaped markings in the right places.

LET ME BE CLEAR: Even though eyebrows on pets are incredibly cute, it is NOT acceptable to draw on eyebrows with any kind of marking device.  I know y'all 420 kids wanna get high and decorate the cat, but if you do and I see your candy ass in the streets I'll take you out. I might even hunt you down.  You've been warned.

And now that we've gotten the threat portion out the way, I present to you... the eyebrow!

in beige

Japanese pets seem to be blessed with the eyebrow genes.  This lil dawgie is rocking a 20's gangster set.

Permanently surprised, so very appropriate for this beautiful little Japanois kittenette.
This gorgeous eyebrow-having catina is available at Toronto Cat Rescue!
Doggies are more blessed in the eyebrow department than cats.  Look at this peaceful giant, just chillin 24/7!
Hey guys, it's me! I get no respect!

Kelis kitten brings it.
It's easy to judge with eyebrows like this.
oooh, great scraggled brow whiskers on old man time here!

Agile Like This

As many of my readers already know, the Cat Lady of Parkdale is one third of a three-piece R&B/Methcore outfit called Agile Like This.

The band consists of myself and two of my best friends (and platonic three-way life partners) Dan Schickerowsky and Caroline Wesley.

                 ah, our glory days.

As you may guess from what you know of my hobbies and interests, as well as what you can gleaned from the feline-centric band name, our break-out #1 smash single was all about... CATS!!! Cat Me if You Can was inspired by how cute it is when cats get into things or places that they're not supposed to be.  This adorable phenomenon was first popularized by greeting card companies, Grandma sweatshirts and desk calendars - but made infamous by us.  My dear internet buddy, Michael Mouris (aka Milkfat) from the City of Angels used his incredible video animation skills to whip us up a lil music vid featuring his kitkats Yoko and Zoomer getting into all sorts of places they shouldn't be in.

Warning!  This video contains four letter words and pubes!

Skip to 163,294 views later, a media circus, sold-out arenas, mountains of white powdery gold, dizzying highs and  plummeting lows - until one dark day in 2007 we wake up to find ourselves sleeping in a hollowed out log on the muddy banks of the Wishkah, in what we hope is our own filth.

You know, maybe show biz ain't for the delicate flowers among us.  But, oh! to be with my beautiful band mates performing again!

Cat encounters from Hafnarfjörður to Harlem

A very special friend of mine, Amy Borkwood, has been everywhere from here to Zaire.

God bless her little soul, she's captured some beautiful moments for us, my readers!

In 2010 our Amy traveled to the most beautiful country of Iceland.  While I don't usually post non-kitty pics, I am including these gorgeous landscape pictures of Iceland that Amy took, so you can get an idea of the typical Icelandic kittens natural habitat.

Some places where cat ladies of Iceland live.
Glacier carved mountains / sheep trails.

there are cities with buildings out of children's books / where people settle, there are guardians to protect them.  This one is determined to receive love from the comely traveler.

Mission accomplished /  Oh, who is this?
A slumberous casper cat pads towards her / a beacon on the grassy knoll is accessorized in red string.
Lean into it / jerk smirkin' kitty cat.

If the cats of Iceland are made of cotton wool, sea glass and an implicit faith in a dream like nether-world filled with faeries and elves, then the cats of New York City are made of coffee, cinder blocks and an impending sense of dread about their own mortality.  But they're equally as cute!

It's a New York state of mind for this contemplative New York City Kitty.
But even when you're a sophisticated urban cat, sometimes you still gotta roll on the pavement.
Thanks so much, Amy, for sharing these with us, and thank you to kit-loving model Georgia Webber for making the last shot possible.

New Design!

Check out the new design for Cats of Parkdale!

It is strongly inspired by Parkdale.  Another great thing about Parkdale is all the great Tibetans! Best people I've ever met.  I wish I could have their values.

Check out this baby Tibetan holding a kitty!

Catrimony.

God bless my amazing boss, Cindy, for sending me the following story about the first gay cat wedding!!!  It hits all the bases of things I am into!  If only it was taking place in Parkdale.

"Next Thursday night at Ollie's Place, a no-kill cat shelter in NYC, Bruno and Solomon will join in holy catrimony, making them the first known married gay feline couple."

"They were both brought into the shelter from the streets of Coney Island at about the same time and they immediately bonded. Bruno, the grey cat with a big rack, is shy and a little demure. Solomon, the Creamiscle cat, is more of an alpha male (aka the top) and protects Bruno from the big scary world out there."

Thanks for the great journalism, DListed!

The Light Tiger of Christy Pitts

I've been wanting to capture this majestic beauty for a long time.  I remember when I first moved to Toronto, driving by this beautiful fearsome beast made of a million lights, and thinking, "wow, this is the big city."

This weekend, my dear friend Ruth - a tiger of light in her own right - took the opportunity of a snowy night and a couple of hot toddies to mount this creation.  A truly magnificent union.

Cat-Teenage Rebellion

Yeah, I'm a bad a$$ teenage cat who chooses to chill beside a cinder block! WHY? Because I'm a mutha' fuckin badass catty, that's why!

My Portugese mom says I shouldn't smoke nip and sit on planks of wood on top of old air conditioners - but do I listen to my old lady?!  HELL NO! I smoke so much nip even my claws are blunt!  And I represent this cinder block because I am the streets.

I show no mercy.  I give mad cattitude to the perps that pass my palace.

Everyday I need an ounce and a half! The only cat you know with a bounce and a half!
Ay yo, I smoke like a chiminey!

(Aww, we all know he's a little home-baby mama's boy with that face.  He'd never take drugs or fight, he just wants to impress the teenage girl cats in his area code. I also think he might be a she, in which case this is the long-awaited cat-action sequel to Set it Off starring Queen Latifah)

I love gangster kitties, especially on the mean streets of Parkdale.  So good to be back home in Parkdale after a long stretch in Kitchener-Waterloo.  Thanks to Steph for holding down the cat blogging fort while I was away.

She's a Talker

Three Best Things: Art, Gay People and Cats.

I do wish I could imbed this video, but I swear it's worth the click and watch.  "Neil Goldberg’s “She’s a Talker,” a short video which hits on the sublime by examining gay men’s relationships with their cats." Made in 1993.

Thank you to my beloved Steph and Diego for continually making this blog possible.

Camille

My dear friend Parker has one of the most beautiful cats in the world, Camille.  I don't get to see her anymore since she and Park-park launched a successful new life journey in BC, so I was super pumped to see her beautiful face in my inbox, with the following note: Hey bb,
Camille was being very regal and wanted me to show you how proper kitties cross their arms when reclining.

Camillionairess

She's exceptionally loving. Nice pink tummy!
Who goes there?!?!?!
She might look like a beautiful little cup cake but she's got fangs!!!  Rawrr!!!
Some of the biggest, most expressive cat eyes that ever were.  I love you and miss you my baby Camille!!!!

You must have been a beautiful baby

I have often tried to picture our Brenda as a kitten.  Because she is so large and fluffy, it has been difficult.  But I wonder if she looked something like this gorgeous timbit:

Squiggy.
VERY IMPORTANT!  Please take a second each day from December 2nd to December 15th to vote for Toronto Cat Rescue to win the Aviva Community Grant.  It is a truly deserving organization, and don't beautiful kitties like the above pictured Squiggy just make you want to care?
Please go here to vote, everyday! http://www.avivacommunityfund.org/ideas/acf9693.
