Orange surprise!
This kitty is all shocked that photographer Margaret Kwan would dare set foot on his property and capture his likeness without an offering for his large urn collection!
On the other hand, this might just be an "I can haz cheezburger?" face. They're similar expressions.

My fellow cat-whisperer
God Bless the Innanet for connecting me with the inimitable Margaret Kwan, fellow cat-whisperer and Torontophile, whose beautiful blog, thirtyonekm, documents her work, life and inspirations in this fair city.
Lucky for us, Margaret travels Toronto over, making feline friends and snapping pics of her encounters with these beatific beasts. Wait til you guys get a load of these guys.

So proud! Margaret caught this guy protecting his Toronto bins as though they contained the Mummy-soul of the late, great King Tutankhamun himself! I hope I have some little Cat God to protect me when I finally make my journey to the paradisaical underworld.

More human than humans.
Shortly before xxxmas 2010, I won the cat-sitting jackpot and got to stay in an expansive luxury art-deco bachelorette pad in the heart of Parkdale with two beautiful, intellectually special cats. Thank you to my co-worker Samm for letting me step inside her beautiful life for a week when she retired to Florida.
Finn, Taz and I had a really nice time together. I, doing my paint by numbers, (of course of a kit thru the window) and Finn intermittently meowling for more food and deeply sleeping in a fluffy warm pile of purring in a basket at the end of my adopted bed.
The other kitten, the shy, graceful, silvery lilac petite bon bon with the big sea-green eyes enchanted me at once. I felt her name, Taz, didn't suit her, and thought she should have some more dignified name, such as Grace or Mary. Then she warmed up to me. Once she started getting pats from me, she couldn't get enough, and entered a drooling, purring, head-butting love frenzy. She started sleeping in the bed with me at night, and would unexpectedly awake with a start and jump down to attack my slippers, then streak around the apartment like a bat out of hell. I guess she is a little bit of a Spazmanian Devil - but she sure looks like a beautiful little ballerina. I guess looks can be decieving.
I love you Taz and Finn! I'll never forget our time together.

"Me want foooood and looooove!"
hahaha I put out sooo many bowls for them because I was always worried they would starve or thirst! At one point there were eight bowls for two kitties!

The Light Tiger of Christy Pitts
I've been wanting to capture this majestic beauty for a long time. I remember when I first moved to Toronto, driving by this beautiful fearsome beast made of a million lights, and thinking, "wow, this is the big city."

This weekend, my dear friend Ruth - a tiger of light in her own right - took the opportunity of a snowy night and a couple of hot toddies to mount this creation. A truly magnificent union.

Cat-Teenage Rebellion
Yeah, I'm a bad a$$ teenage cat who chooses to chill beside a cinder block! WHY? Because I'm a mutha' fuckin badass catty, that's why!
(Aww, we all know he's a little home-baby mama's boy with that face. He'd never take drugs or fight, he just wants to impress the teenage girl cats in his area code. I also think he might be a she, in which case this is the long-awaited cat-action sequel to Set it Off starring Queen Latifah)
I love gangster kitties, especially on the mean streets of Parkdale. So good to be back home in Parkdale after a long stretch in Kitchener-Waterloo. Thanks to Steph for holding down the cat blogging fort while I was away.
My Portugese mom says I shouldn't smoke nip and sit on planks of wood on top of old air conditioners - but do I listen to my old lady?! HELL NO! I smoke so much nip even my claws are blunt! And I represent this cinder block because I am the streets.
I show no mercy. I give mad cattitude to the perps that pass my palace.
Everyday I need an ounce and a half! The only cat you know with a bounce and a half!
Ay yo, I smoke like a chiminey!

Kevin Steele captures Window Cat!
A new blog-friend, Kevin Steele, who shares my weird interests, captured these beautiful photos of window kitty from West Queen West, seen formerly on Cats of Parkdale here and here. These were taken in 2008! She's been sitting in that window for years! Oh, to be a cat.
Thank you so much to Kevin for these great pictures. If you want to check out other artfully taken photos of Queen West with an emphasis on the cats of Queen West, visit his blog, Kevin Steele Land!

I would love to know more about this cat, such as what is she selling? Whatever it is, I'm buying.

I think her job is to be cute and lovey dovey with passers-by! She's workin' it. Hard.

I think she may have posed for Vermeer in a past life. I just gotta scratch that chin!!

Toronto Cat Rescue has a spaghetti cat!
![]() |
Aw!!! This is Daisy! She had to have her fluffy coat shaved because it was so matted from living on the tough streets of Toronto - but her haircut is sooo cute! makes her look like she's just a fluffy floating cat head. Also she looks like spaghetti cat.
Wanna learn more about spaghetti cat? (a beautiful union of two of my favorite things) Listen to this informative and soulful song.
Real explanation of Spaghetti Cat: During a segment of The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet (FOX) aired in August 2008, a still image of a cat sitting before a large plate of spaghetti was abruptly shown on screen, before the video cut back to a woman discussing binge drinking and drunk driving. Puzzled by the irrelevant nature of the footage and lack of explanation from the hosts, this on-air incident was soon featured on E!’s The Soup and subsequently spread throughout the web.
Original Spaghetti Cat Footage (as aired on the Soup, the original had no laughter!):
Toronto Cat Rescue
Every once in a while I get into a vortex of looking at cats on the Toronto Cat Rescue website. TCR is a really great org made up of cat-loving angels who desperately need our support! (www.torontocatrescue.ca) I like to look through the kitties trying to choose which one is the cutest. Here are some stand-outs from today's hour and a half long visit:

This is Fergie!!! This kit stole my heart. A face so infinitely more expressive and beautiful than Fergie from Black Eyed Peas.

Oh, Hugo!! what a piquant little face! So mischievous.
