A sad thing.

STEPH HOFF doesn't even live in Toronto anymore (boo!) but she still contributes beautiful pictures to COP.  A lost cat of Vancouver! Keep your eyes out for Scully!

Song For Mourning a Cat

You became wild, you became a street cat!
Did you not fly around my heart like a nightingale?

No longer is your beauty a revelation,
Your face no longer a place of worship.

Your former tenderness grew coarse,
What were your fineries, became torn…

How can your beauty betray itself,
How can wine turn to quinine?

I’m afraid for you – decorated with jewelry –
And now you’ve become like a gypsy
Prostituting herself.

An existentialist cat roaming the streets at night –
But who’s still dreaming of you?

Parisian bone yard cats

Wouldn't you be comforted to know that after you give ghost you will have a fantastic fox monument on which the toughest French tom cats bask in the sun?  Sounds like heaven to moi!

My friend Andrea and her cat loving friend (seen here) went to Paris and captured this incredible cat Cemetery phenomenon!  I love that this snoozing black beauty let her scratch his crown.

the power of prayer

Remember how I posted a few weeks ago that my bro Joey was missing his cat-bro Joey JR??????

Well, it is a testament to the power of a simple cat lady's prayers, as well as to the tireless humane society website surfing of a desperate Dad that JOEY JUNIOR HAS RETURNED!!!!!!!!

I'm so happy for you Joey!

This almost makes up for the daily trips to the humane society that me, my sis and my mom took when I was 8 and we lost Shirley.  Listening to Les Mis on cassette and crying out the window.  Good family.

call to arms

Thanks Mikey.

do you recall?

do you remember a few months back there was a beautiful, full figured gentleman cat named Jang featured on this very blog?  No?  Well, maybe this will jog your memory:

OH YEAH!!!  That beautiful creature!

Well, Jang is so incredibly photogenic and pleasurable to look at, that he now has his own blog!  Rejoice!

We all suspected it, and now it's confirmed - Jang's a feminist!!!  "Woman's Wisdom"!!  Great half paw tuck.

so debonaire.

Jang's mama Cara sure makes a mean blog!

Top hat kitty

This kitten has a permanent top hat!

I'm really strapped for Parkdale cat pictures right now and so am resorting to posting international web superstars like this masterpiece above.  It's pretty sad though because I am seeing so many great Parkdale cats every day, but have no camera with which to bring them from Parkdale through my eye holes through your screens to your eye holes.  So please send me your Parkdale kitty or Parkdale kitty related pics!  I will lurve you forever!

black friend

Are you down in the dumps over this dreary weather?  Or are you under the weather and it's getting you down in the dreary dumps?  What better antidote to dreary weather-based maladies than a little black friend on your duvet watching you try to sleep?  With a little white chest patch and the face that honesty built, this guy - appropriately name "Blacky" by Caroline's parents - is sure to cure what ails ya.

Love you guys - hang in there.

Tail Legend

Thank you to my best friend Meagan, who has a hilarious new blog about annoying behavior of TTC riders, that you should check out here, for this helpful legend depicting the tail positions and their accompanying emotions.

This will help any fledgling cat whisperer to know when to come, pet, stay or run.  It's so beautiful when you go home to your parents crib after months away and your life-cat greets you with a straight up tail - i'm so happy to see you!!!!!

Help find Joey Junior!

Dearest Readers, your help is needed...

Beloved bro of the cat lady and cat-owner extraordinaire Joey Blake is inconsolable over the flight of his newly acquired and beloved kitten Joey Junior.

This white and tabby stunner ran away earlier this week in the College and Spadina area, and is sorely missed by his pep pep Joey Senior and cat-bro Charleston.  Please keep your eyes out for this little cutie and if you have any leads of his whereabouts or want to cheer him up with a wacky e-card, contact Joey the first at brosephblake@gmail.com.

Concerned friend of both Joeys, Laura Harris, sent me the following info and photos of the missing one:

Joey Sr adopted Joey Jr at a cat rescue agency in Toronto.  There were a few kits up for adoption but Joeys of a feather flock together, and Joey Sr knew this was the one.

Joey is "a little sweetheart, who will happily cuddle up with you - given he's in the mood for it.  When he arrived home right after being adopted, Joey (the cat) was frighteningly thin and had a bad cold, but the caring administrations of food and medicine (via a syringe for the first week) by his loving owner ensured that Joey regained his health, and a few pounds in the process." - Laura

Charlie, Joey Sr's first catty and Joey Jr's new drug buddy, is seen below totally peaking on the 'cid he just dropped with his new best friend from the mean streets of TO.

As you can see, poor Charlie is literally beside himself over the loss of his new pal (and, admittedly, a reliable drug source).

Charlie's grief has even caused his feline bulimia to flare up again, just when years of intensive therapy had finally allowed him to accept his curves.

Won't you please help reunite this homo love triangle today and relieve the distress of two gaymazing dudes by looking in your back alleys, your tool sheds, and your craig's lists for the beautiful Joey Jr?

Barn Catzz blow the cute meter apart

Recently, award-winning Parkdalian photographer Jill Botting and charming cat-loving friends Shane and Jennifer visited a farm in Hagersville where they met some EXTREMELY adorable barn kits!  Make sure you have your handkerchief nearby before you look at these pictures, because they're going to make your mind explode.

Loving rural mommy with her charges.  Jill wanted me to warn my readers that she, Jenn and Shane literally lost brain cells from their cuteness.  Seriously dangerous levels of cuteness.  That's why these thoughtful kitties  live in remote locations away from humans, because they don't want to damage our brain waves with their extra high cuteness quotient!

DAYUM, BILL!!!!  Stop being soooo cute!!!  This guy was given the name Bill the Brave and Badass Bill by Shane and Jenn respectively.  Obviously he's so brave to risk tangoing with that curly snake!

Tender little newborn tabby baby times a billion!!!

To A Cat

Stately, kindly, lordly friend,
Condescend
Here to sit by me, and turn
Glorious eyes that smile and burn,
Golden eyes, love’s lustrous meed,
On the golden page I read.

All your wondrous wealth of hair,
Dark and fair,
Silken shaggy, soft and bright
As the clouds and beams of night,
Pays my reverent hand’s caress
Back with friendlier gentleness.

Dogs may fawn on all and some
  As they come;
You, a friend of loftier mind,
Answer friends alone in kind.
Just your foot upon my hand
Softly bids it understand.

-Algernon Charles Swinburne

Thanks, yet again, for the wonderful picture Margaret!

the graceful one

this is a girl i've been wanting to blog about for a long time.  Lexy Hoff is a very special cat who lives in Kitchener.  She was born with double the amount of grace and sweet temperament than kittens usually are doled out.

She is lucky to have extremely devoted parents who appreciate her beauty.

The sunlight illuminates her guard hairs - or is that her aura?

Graceful as a ballerina, but this kitten's got claws!

a true lady crosses her paws

I think cats washing their paws is one of the most lovely things to watch.  Cats!

and a perfect full tuck.

Thank you so much to Lindz Hoff for sharing your beautiful angel with me and for your unwavering support of all animals.

The Royal Chat

Did you guys watch the Royal Wedding?  I didn't.  I was too exhausted from being on the Kate Middleton diet.

But I wish I had, because now I find out that that princess with the crazily over-sized chompers and peepers had a kit-cat coming out of her fascinator!

Now that's fascinating!  Thank you to mega blog supporter and loved one Mono Brown for breaking this story.

Your Honor, would this face lie?

The face that launched a thousand ships

You can tell I love my mother because I have an "M" on my forehead.

Lenny knows that the camera loves him, and especially loves his leather pads and black velvet under-paw.

"Hey guys! It's me, Lenny (or Aslan).  I'm available for adoption at Toronto Cat Rescue!
Just imagine if you brought a sweetie over to your pad and s/he saw this mug waiting for you.
That's why they call me the wife-catcher.
See my profile here! I hope you pick me."

Cat Lady of Parkdale sez: In a just society, we owners would be advertising ourselves on line for the cats to choose from!  Please support TCR by adopting, fostering, volunteering or donating!  Thank you.

Wiz Khalifa pays homage to white and orange cats

Yeah... uh huh... you know what it is:
White and Orange! White and Orange
White and Orange! White and Orange!

Repping Parkdale when you see me
in my creamsicle coat.
White and orange! White and orange!
White and orange! White and orange!

Yeah... uh huh... you know what it is
Errything I do, I do it big!

Yeah... uh huh... mewing "that's nothing!
when I show you my claws - that's stunting."

I put it down from my tail
to the collar i'm in.
White and orange! White and orange!
White and orange! White and orange!

Stay cute like how I'm supposed to do
that crown underneath the clouds can't get close to you
and this kitty might look unapproachable
super clean but I'm super keen!

Yeah... uh huh... you know what it is
White and Orange! White and Orange!
White and Orange! White and Orange!

Thank you so much to Margaret for these incredible kitty pics.
