It's Jonathan, but you can call me Jang.

Toronto resident Jonathan (known as Jang to his friends) demonstrates that even the rubenesque among us can be ballerinas.  Don't go Black Swan on us, Jang!  It's not worth it!

Thanks to my friend Cara for sharing his beauty.

We got ourselves a situation

Steph caught this group of kitties feeling romantic (aka in heat) on Valentine's Day.  I think this is the feline version of a swinger's club.

Hey you guys gonna be at Wicked tonight?

Black on orange all the way.  CAT PARTY!  You guys are lucky it's valentine's day or I'd think you were pervos!

Anddddd I got a really cute Valentine from my special Valentine!

She knows what I likes.  In case you can't read it: "Hope you have a paws-itively pawesome valen-meows day".  Yep, she went there.

PINK TRIANGLE COOKIES!!!!  Because we're gay!! She melted cinnamon hearts to create hot pink icing!!  I ate most of them. They were too good.
Thanks Lindsey!

Happy Saint Valentine's Day to all my valentine cats, and my beloved readers.

Thank you to Michael Mouris, my longtime Internet valentine for this effed up kitty-monster.

I needed that.

Oooh, I spent this week very concerned about my professional future.  After missing out on that dream job I mentioned in an earlier post, I was pretty much resolved to join a feral cat colony in the spring and just prayed to Gosh I'd get used to eating street mice!  But now I've just found out about another great opportunity and I feel like the teddy bear in this beautiful image, sent to me by my friend Diego.

Thanks D-Set!

On Eyebrows.

Perhaps because I have always had fairly significant eyebrows myself, I think prominent brows are incredibly cute/interesting/distinguished!  When eyebrows and cute animals are combined, it's a serious smorgasbord of greatness.  They don't occur naturally very often, as kits and dawgs have whiskers to keep dust out their pretty little eyes, so it's just a beautiful fluke of nature if they happen to have little eyebrow-shaped markings in the right places.

LET ME BE CLEAR: Even though eyebrows on pets are incredibly cute, it is NOT acceptable to draw on eyebrows with any kind of marking device.  I know y'all 420 kids wanna get high and decorate the cat, but if you do and I see your candy ass in the streets I'll take you out. I might even hunt you down.  You've been warned.

And now that we've gotten the threat portion out the way, I present to you... the eyebrow!

Japanese pets seem to be blessed with the eyebrow genes.  This lil dawgie is rocking a 20's gangster set.

Permanently surprised, so very appropriate for this beautiful little Japanois kittenette.
This gorgeous eyebrow-having catina is available at Toronto Cat Rescue!
Doggies are more blessed in the eyebrow department than cats.  Look at this peaceful giant, just chillin 24/7!
Hey guys, it's me! I get no respect!

Kelis kitten brings it.
It's easy to judge with eyebrows like this.
oooh, great scraggled brow whiskers on old man time here!

Hamlet's Ghost-Father Speaks

Ghost of King Hamlet:
"But that I am forbid
To tell the secrets of my prison-house,
I could a tale unfold whose lightest word
Would harrow up thy soul, freeze thy young blood,
Make thy two eyes, like stars, start from their spheres,
Thy knotted and combined locks to part
And each particular hair to stand on end,
Like quills upon the fretful porpentine:"

Hamlet
"OMGWTF!!!"

Cat Wings

When cyber bullies, pre-menstrual syndrome and a killer hangover get the Cat Lady of Parkdale down in the dumps, she tries to think up various new cat word combinations to google image search to give her some much needed comfort.  This morning, still mangled from the stupid amount of vodka i consumed last night due to party nerves, I thought of CAT WINGS, and was overwhelmingly happy-fied by the amazing results this new search yielded.

My mom used to read Emmy and I the Cat Wings books by fellow space-lez Ursula K LeGuin when we were little!  They were the best!

When I finally moved out of my folks house I took this book and propped it up on my make-up stand to celebrate my new-found independence.  It is adorable.

But the best part of my search was that I discovered that cat wings really do exist!!!!!!

WHAAAAT?!?!  Who's an angel-cat?
Kitties "began sprouting bumps on their backs, which later turned into wing-like growths, during a recent spell of hot weather in China's Sichuan province."

"One cat owner, known only as Feng, claims her cat Tom's wings are a result of stress after he was 'harassed' by females looking to mate.
'At first, they were just two bumps, but they started to grow quickly, and after a month there were two wings,' she told Huashang News. 'Many female cats in heat came to harass him, and then the wings started to grow.'"

Poor Tom!!!  It's hard out there for a pimp.  Now he can just fly far far away when the overly aggressive girl cats stress him out by demanding commitment too early in the relationship!

I guess too many girl cats were tryina mack on this angel kitten too, and who could blame them?  Cat wings pictured with a human who is almost as adorable.

Agile Like This

As many of my readers already know, the Cat Lady of Parkdale is one third of a three-piece R&B/Methcore outfit called Agile Like This.

The band consists of myself and two of my best friends (and platonic three-way life partners) Dan Schickerowsky and Caroline Wesley.

                 ah, our glory days.

As you may guess from what you know of my hobbies and interests, as well as what you can gleaned from the feline-centric band name, our break-out #1 smash single was all about... CATS!!! Cat Me if You Can was inspired by how cute it is when cats get into things or places that they're not supposed to be.  This adorable phenomenon was first popularized by greeting card companies, Grandma sweatshirts and desk calendars - but made infamous by us.  My dear internet buddy, Michael Mouris (aka Milkfat) from the City of Angels used his incredible video animation skills to whip us up a lil music vid featuring his kitkats Yoko and Zoomer getting into all sorts of places they shouldn't be in.

Warning!  This video contains four letter words and pubes!

Skip to 163,294 views later, a media circus, sold-out arenas, mountains of white powdery gold, dizzying highs and  plummeting lows - until one dark day in 2007 we wake up to find ourselves sleeping in a hollowed out log on the muddy banks of the Wishkah, in what we hope is our own filth.

You know, maybe show biz ain't for the delicate flowers among us.  But, oh! to be with my beautiful band mates performing again!
